On Wednesday night, our 9th Anniversary, I know! I attended a Nutrition and Wellness class at our chiropractors office, while hubby stayed home with the kids. It was very exciting.
She discussed some of the current scary statistics regarding health in the United States, what type of "studies" you should actually pay attention to, and discussed how to eat healthier.
1. Basicly, eliminate all oils, cook with water and a few other alternatives.
2. Only consume animal proteins occasionally - no more than 2-3 times/week. (this includes all meat/fish/yogurt/butter/milk/eggs - - anything that came from something that could look back at you)
3. Don't skip breakfast. They recommend a certain smoothie that you should drink 32 oz. of every morning or oatmeal and fruit.
4. Eat only whole grains or sprouted grains for your breads and pasta.
5. Eliminate all processed foods and cane sugars.
6. Use a good whole food supplement like Juice Plus.
7. Get a moderate level of excercise.
We have done most of this except the oil thing and we eat more than 2-3 servings of animal proteins a week, but I'm still feeling like I really need a basic cooking class and ideas of how to get my family to eat more beans and veggies in place of the animal products.
